QN: Find an image of a realistic 2D work, upload it and write down 10 reasons why you consider this work realistic. If possible, choose an artist who is out of the syllabus.
i know Mrs tay has done this same technique but well, i like this too.
The artworks are by Banksy! an awesome british graffiti artist.
10 reasons why this is realistic:
1. The large scale of this work allows people to physically in the artwork, allowing them to view and experience it fully.
2. The use of lines and contrast in colours makes this work very realistic.
3. A 3D effect is achieved because of the outline and darker colour used in some parts of the painting. for example the bos.
4. The work allows people to interact with it, view it closely and inspect it, due to the large size.
5. Choice of subject matter. This work depicts a scene that is actually possible- a fight and a school bus. hence, if one looks at it from afar it is very realistic.
6. the work does not defy traditional concepts of space. eg. the things painted do not defy gravity
7. Colours used are realistic, natural tonal colours are used.
8. there is no bold outline or anything like that, that suggests it to be a painting. the work is completely realistic.
9. Use of different tones in colour create contrast, highlighting the object and thus making it realistic.
10. Shadow gives the illusion of reality - seen inbetween cushions in the sofa.
